Data privacy
In M&A, confidentiality comes before everything else.
Few documents are as sensitive as the ones that move through a deal: accounts nobody outside the company has seen, a sale the staff do not know about yet, a buyer's pipeline. Keeping them private is one of our core tenets, not a setting.
Why it matters
A leak in a deal is not an inconvenience. It can end the deal.
Word that a business is for sale can unsettle its employees, customers, and suppliers, and hand its competitors an opening. A buyer’s interest, once known, changes the price.
That is why deals run under NDAs and data rooms rather than email attachments, and why the platform a deal runs on has to hold the same line. We built Value Alpha on that assumption from the start.
Our commitments
We do not train on your data.
Nothing you upload and nothing you ask is used to train our valuation models, the VA Assistant, or anything else. Your documents are used for one purpose: producing the analysis you asked for.
The VA Assistant is sandboxed.
It works inside your account and answers to you alone. It reads the documents you have uploaded and the valuations you have run so that it can answer your questions, and it cannot see anyone else's data. No one else's assistant can see yours.
We share your data with no one but you.
Your financials are visible to you and to nobody else. The only other people who ever see them are the ones you choose to show, a buyer you open a data-room folder to, or colleagues on your team plan, and that access is yours to grant and to revoke.
Financial data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The formal terms are in our privacy policy.
The controls behind these commitments, encryption, access, logging and testing, are set out on the security page.
Questions
Is my data used to train AI?
No, not our valuation models, not the VA Assistant, and not anything else. Reading your documents to answer your questions is not the same as training on them: nothing you upload changes any model, and nothing you ask is kept to teach one.
What can the VA Assistant see?
Only what is in your own account: the documents you have uploaded and the valuations you have run. It answers to you alone, and it cannot see any other customer's data.
Who sees my financials?
You, and the people you choose to share them with. We never sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else.
Tell us what your deal requires.
If confidentiality terms matter to how you work, and in M&A they usually do, we will walk you through how the platform keeps your data yours.
